The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, a vital road link connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country, has been closed for a second day due to shooting stones and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall. Commuters embarking on this journey can expect a rainy adventure as they brave the elements and the obstacles on the road.
Continuous Closure for 2nd Day Due to Shooting Stones and Landslides
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the main road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, remains closed for vehicular traffic for the second day in a row.
This is due to shooting stones and mudslides triggered by the rain, according to officials.
Stranded Vehicles and Blocked Roadway
Over 200 vehicles are currently stranded at multiple places on the route due to the highway being blocked by landslides in Ramban district.
Shooting stones have also caused damage to an iron tunnel set up in the Panthiyal area to facilitate traffic.
Clearing the Way for Commuters
Efforts are being made to remove the debris from the landslides and clear the highway for traffic.
The J&K Traffic Police advise people to not travel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway without confirmation from the Traffic Control Units. Stay tuned for updates on the road’s status.”
